8,855 DISABLED PEOPLE IN MIDLOTHIAN RECEIVING VITAL SNP GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

The SNP Government is supporting 8,855 disabled people in Midlothian through the Adult Disability Payment, according to new figures from Social Security Scotland.
To date, 13,989,400 Adult Disability Payments have been made across Scotland, including 239,185 in Midlothian. A total of 504,710 people are receiving support this way, with a total of £120,353,830 paid out since launch.
The Payment, distributed by Social Security Scotland, goes to those with a long-term disability or health condition that impacts their everyday life. It can amount to up to £114 a week.

“Adult Disability Payment is making a massive difference to thousands of people across Midlothian, providing vital security so they can live independent and fulfilled lives.
“That is testament to the SNP Government’s compassionate and person-centred social security system – one that treats disabled people with the dignity they deserve, rather than a target for cuts.
“While successive Westminster governments have cut support for disabled people, the SNP will always stand up for disabled people in Midlothian and protect this essential support.
“I strongly urge everyone who thinks they could be eligible to check and ensure they get the support they are entitled to.”
