“I was delighted to welcome Aileen into the Parliament today to recognise her contributions to the Mayfield Breastfeeding Support Group.
“Breastfeeding can sometimes be a difficult time for women and the Group provides support in a relaxed and reassuring atmosphere which encourages those attending to share their concerns with other mothers in the same situation. Aileen was a major player in running the Group and her patience and warmth have resulted in it becoming the success it is today.”
“I was also delighted to submit a motion to the Parliament celebrating the work of Aileen throughout Mayfield and the whole of Midlothian. The wording for the motion was - That the Parliament thanks Aileen Banks for her work with the Mayfield Breastfeeding Support Group, Breast Pals; recognises her tireless efforts in educating mothers on the importance of proper breastfeeding and raising healthy babies; congratulates her group’s 25-year celebration in 2017; notes that she received a Volunteer Service Award from NHS Lothian that same year, and wishes her the best in pursuing a happy retirement as she continues to volunteer as a breastfeeding peer supporter for NHS Lothian.”
